In this presentation Katherine Stephan and Niels Stern will address how the initiative Think. Check. Submit. can help researchers make sound publishing choices. Think. Check. Submit. offers a range of free tools and resources with the aim of helping researchers identify trusted journals and book publishers for their research and promote integrity and build trust in credible research and publications.

In her part of the presentation Katherine will talk about the journal part of Think. Check. Submit. She will address various issues that researchers should consider (before/during/after) they publish their research.

Niels will focus on the book and chapter section of Think., Check. Submit. He will look at the important aspects of what to consider when looking for a publisher for your book (or chapter) manuscript.

Katherine Stephan and Niels Stern are both members of the Think. Check. Submit. committee.

Katherine Stephan has worked in both public and higher education libraries for over twenty years. She is a keen advocate of local libraries, open research and responsible research assessment. She is on the UKSG Outreach and Engagement committee and is co-organiser of Open Research Week, a collaboration between LJMU, Edge Hill University and the University of Liverpool.

Niels Stern has worked in scholarly publishing for more than twenty years. Since 2014 he has also acted as an independent expert for the European Commission on open science and e-infrastructures. He is a member of the OPERAS Executive Assembly and the Open Book Collective Board of Stewards and serves on a number of advisory boards and committees.
