Diamond Open Access in the humanities: growth, but a precarious future?

We will sketch how we see the current situation for Diamond Open Access in the humanities and each provide a snapshot from our own experience with DOA publishing. In addition, we want to discuss the obstacles in the funding landscape, the potential growth of DOA publishing and the challenges of quality control and ranking in an emergent system. We also want to take the opportunity to ask the gathered Danish OA librarian expertise some questions!
The speakers are the authors of the article Open Access blev kuppet af de store forlag - med en ny model kan vi tage kontrollen tilbage, which has attracted considerable attention.
Mikkel Gerken (PhD UCLA 2007) is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern Denmark. His research falls within philosophy of science and epistemology and currently concerns science skepticism and science-informed policy. He has experience with Diamond Open Access journal as an associate editor or ERGO – an open access journal of philosophy.
Anne-Marie Søndergaard Christensen is Professor of Ethics, University of Southern Denmark with expertise in Wittgensteinian ethics, healthcare and professional ethics. She has experience with Diamond Open Access journal as co-founder of Nordic Wittgenstein Review and extensive experience with the Danish funding landscape as former chair of the Council of Humanities, Independent Research Fund Denmark.
Lars Boje Mortensen is Professor of Ancient and Medieval Cultural History at the University of Southern Denmark. His main fields of research are medieval literature, Latin literature and historiography, pre-modern book history and theory of literary history. He has since 2015 been the chief editor of the DOA journal, Interfaces – a journal of European medieval literatures (University of Milan).
